Improve your English through Reading

Reading is the key to improve vocabulary, understand grammar and word order. I found an interesting activity on a wonderful blog by Nic Peachey, a learning technology consultant, writer and teacher who specialises on writing computer based learning materials. Please go through the posting dated 16 April 2009 on his blog titled 'Quick Reading Activity".

Your task: Reading and Writing Activity
a. In groups of 4, go through local newspapers and cut out 5 pictures you find interesting.
b. Paste the picture on A4 paper and write out captions which are not less than three lines.
c. Present your pictures and captions to your class.

We will do this task next week in the computer lab but do go through the posting. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Vocabulary Practice

I think some of you might have heard of this website - AID TO CHILDREN. It’s an interesting idea with the main desire of helping under privileged children in the most impoverished (very poor) places around the world through learning. That’s right! You can help and practice your vocabulary and learn new words. Thus, the website claims that for every correct answer they will donate 0.25 cents to poor children.
