EARTH DAY 22.4.2010

There are many things that you can do to help save the planet. Here are the top 5 things:
1. Throw your rubbish in the bin.
2. Turn off taps and don’t waste water.
3. Switch off lights, when you’re not using them.
4. Walk, ride a bicycle or use public transport whenever possible.
5. Recycle.

The Environment Soceity (Kelab Alam Sekitar) organised a newspaper recycling campaign. Students brought old newspapers to school and a total of 1373kg of old newspapers were collected and sold.

The Form 3 students displayed their GARBAGE ENZYMES and explained how they made them.
The Form 1 students displayed their bookmarks - they reused paper to create these bookmarks. All these projects were carried out to create an awareness among students on importance of saving MOTHER EARTH.

WELL DONE TO ALL STUDENTS WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THESE PROJECTS....

DO YOUR BIT for the planet, and remember every little bit helps.

Not just today but every day.

English Songs - PBL

FORM 1C AND 1G PRESENTED SONGS ON THE THEME OF ENVIRONMENT ON MONDAY (19.4.2010). THEY CHOSE THEIR OWN TUNES AND CREATED THEIR LYRICS -ON NATURE AND TREES. STUDENTS DID THEIR PRESENTATIONS IN CLASS. WELL DONE TO 1C - GOOD SONGS AND PRESENTATIONS.

22 APRIL: EARTH DAY

In conjunction with Earth Day. on 22 April students of Kolej TDTHB will display their products for PBL projects. The Form 3 students will display their garbage enzyme and the Form 1 will display their book marks and PBL Journals. This is part of their PBL project and sharing session with the school community.

PMR Talk

On 17.4.2010 the Form 3 students of Kolej TDTHB attended a sharing session organised by the B&K and English Department. I, Mdm Sawaran gave the talk from 7.30-9.30 am on how to score and do better in English especially on how to improve essay writing skills and the do's and don'ts of Paper 2.

I hope students took note of important points and will work hard to do better in English. Remember our target....ALL 'A'..... WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY!!!

I will put up the sample literature essays soon. Feel free to see me or any other English teacher for help in English if you need it.

Talk by Mr Luke Bong on Public Speaking

Thank you to Mr Bujang Azmi and the English Department for organizing a talk on Public Speaking on 16.4.2010 from 2.30-4.30 pm. Our invited speaker Mr Luke Bong of Toastmasters Miri was kind enough to explain on how to present a speech. Congratulations to the 50 students who attended the talk which was very informative.

FIRST AID IN ENGLISH

All students who ordered their Star NIE papers and pullouts have received their free copies of the English reference book, First Aid in English. Please use these books well to improves your English Language.

Trip to Brunei Darul Salam

On Saturday, 21 students of the Public Speaking Squad accompanied by 4 teachers,
Mr Bujang, Mr Preston, Ms Zamimah and Mdm Sawaran went to Brunei. We were invited by Sekolah Menengah Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah to participate in the 3rd Private Secondary Schools' English Langauage Oratory competition 2010 as Guest Speaker. Norman Chong of 2 Tekun presented his speech on the theme of "21st Century Skills Are A Must For Today's Students. Well done Norman and keep up the good work. After the competition, we went for a drive around Bandar Seri Bagawan.
We started our day early in the morning, at 6am and came back at 6pm, feeling tired but happy that we were involved in this educational outing.

CHORAL SPEAKING

THANK YOU to Pn Enny and Ms Zamimah for coaching the Choral Speaking team. On 8.4.2010 Thursday a group of 34 students accompanied by 4 English teachers went for the Choral Speaking Competition at SMK BAru. We did not win but winning is not everything, it is a bonus. What's important is that students learnt something new and gained new experiences from other school performances. Anyway, we can work harder for future competitions. Thank you students and teachers....

LANGUAGE MONTH
